Artist Statement
I am restless, I am a trespasser, a kleptomaniac, pyromaniac, insomniac, international junk collector, left handed dyslexic, I am authentic, I am an artist.
These are personal works made for my first solo gallery show in Manhattan. They also won the eleventh annual American Illustration Competition.
Medium: Pen and ink, watercolor, found objects, old ephemera, on old book covers.
Sizes range from 9″ x 12″ to 12″ x 16″.
David Goldin received a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. A left-handed accordion enthusiast and international junk collector, Goldin has worked for R.O. Blechman at the Ink Tank, an animation studio, while also working for Steven Heller at the New York Times Book Review and as assistant to Tomi Ungerer. He is a self-proclaimed magazine brat, illustrator, author, and artist, recently writing and illustrating a children’s book about how art museums work, entitled Meet Me At the Art Museum: A Whimsical Look Behind the Scenes (2012).
