Susan Lewis (Founder and Editor-in-chief)

Susan Lewis has been the Editor-in-chief of Posit since she published the first issue in December, 2013. She is the author of Zoom, winner of the 2017 Washington Prize (The Word Works, 2018) and nine other books and chapbooks, including Heisenberg’s Salon (BlazeVOX [books], 2017), This Visit (BlazeVOX [books], 2015), How to Be Another (Cervena Barva Press, 2014), and State of the Union (Spuyten Duyvil Press, 2014).

Susan received her MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, taught creative writing at SUNY, Purchase, and worked as an editor and guest editor at several publications before founding Posit in 2013. Her work has appeared in Conjunctions, Agni, Boston Review, The Brooklyn Rail, Interim, and many other journals and anthologies, and reviewed in Rain Taxi, Colorado Review, Hyperallergic, Best American Poetry, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. Carol Ciavonne (Editor)

Carol Ciavonne’s poems have appeared in Posit, Concis, Denver Quarterly, Boston Review, Colorado Review, New American Writing and How2, among other journals. Her essays and reviews can be found in Colorado Review, Rain Taxi, Poetry Flash, Entropy, Xantippe, and Pleiades. She is the author of Birdhouse Dialogues (LaFi 2013) (with artist Susana Amundaraín) and a collection, Azimuth (Jaded Ibis Press 2014). Ciavonne has also collaborated with Amundaraín on several theater pieces, and has worked with the innovative The Imaginists theater group. She lives in Santa Rosa, California.

Bernd Sauermann (Associate Editor)

Bernd Sauermann served as professor of writing, literature, and film at Hopkinsville Community College in Kentucky for 20 years and is now Visiting Professor of Writing at Adams State University in Alamosa, CO. He was born in Hof, Germany, in 1961 and emigrated to the U.S. in 1969. He holds a B.S. in anthropology from Northern Arizona University, and an M.A. in English and M.F.A. in Creative Writing from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

He’s had poems, stories, photos, and videos published in The McSweeney’s Book of Poets Picking Poets, McSweeney’s, Southern Indiana Review, Anti-, New Orleans Review, Nimrod, Conduit, Poet Lore, The Kansas Quarterly Review of Literature, Unlikely Stories, Open 24 Hours, and many other journals.

His chapbook, Diesel Generator, was published by Horse Less Press in 2013, and his chapbook Diagrams & Nomenclature was published by White Knuckle Press in 2015. His full-length books of prose poems include Seven Notes of a Dead Man’s Song, published in 2014 by Mad Hat Press, and Redshift, which was published by Lit Fest Press in 2015.

Barbara Tomash (Associate Editor)

Barbara Tomash is the author of Her Scant State (Apogee 2023), PRE- (Black Radish Books 2018), Arboreal (Apogee 2014), Flying in Water, which won the 2005 Winnow First Poetry Award, and The Secret of White (Spuyten Duyvil 2009). An earlier version of PRE- was a finalist for the Colorado Prize and the Rescue Press Black Box Poetry Prize. Her poems have appeared in Colorado Review, Denver Quarterly, Web Conjunctions, New American Writing, Verse, VOLT, OmniVerse, Witness, and numerous other journals. She lives in Berkeley, California, and teaches in the creative writing department at San Francisco State University.

Brad Vogler (Design & Coding Consultant)

Brad Vogler is the author of i know that this ritual (Lute & Cleat, 2015), and the chapbooks, Amid the Waves Which (Beard of Bees, 2015), and Fascicle 30 (Little Red Leaves Textile Series, 2013).

In addition to his work with Posit, he works with Delete Press, and is the editor/web designer for Opon.
